Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is a dental specialty that includes prevention, diagnostics, interception and correction of malocclusion (faulty occlusion) as well as skeletal and neuromuscular abnormalities of the muture or developing orofacial structure (prevent or correct misaligned teeth and the jaws).

An Orthodontist takes advantage of the still growing bones and the jaw and the pending eruption of the permanent teeth. If there is a history of crooked teeth in the family the child should see an orthodontist at the age of seven. Future correction can be done more smoothly and quickly with an early intervention.
